I took a last minute trip to Pattaya, Thailand to celebrate my dad’s birthday. It’s not often that he is on this side of the world on his actual birthday, so I didn’t want to miss an opportunity! My little brother Ethan is growing up so fast, so I also took the chance to get some fun playtime shots with him! I can’t wait to show these pictures to him and his friends on his 18th birthday! ;o)
Last month (I know, soooo late in getting these up on the blog!) I had a short but sweet trip to Manila. I got to see my family, attend a wedding and go up a volcano! And of COURSE I took as many pictures as I could. I was lucky to get the time to do a little mini shoot with my cousins (see their pictures here) but just had to share my other favourites from the trip too.
So have been meaning to post about this shoot for a while – better late than never!
I love shooting portraits and capturing smiles and real-life emotion, but fashion orientated photoshoots can be so much fun as you can be more experimental and creative, both in terms of style of shooting and editing. This was a personal project – an entry for the annual ION photography competition. It was a last minute decision to enter and I cut it quite close – only had 2 days to work it all out! So, big thank you to Jos from Jos + Rachel who lent me several gorgeous dresses to work with and my wonderful friends Palita and Andre who assisted me. And of course HUGE thanks to my models Caroline and Nuwani who woke up at ridiculous o’clock to get hair and makeup done. They both went to their day jobs straight after the shoot too. Absolute stars. I could only enter a few into the competition, but my personal favourites and ‘out-takes’ are below!
Ah, my wonderful friends Matt and Palita! I was honoured to be a witness at their official registration of marriage. Palita’s close family also flew in from Hongkong for the occasion and the group certainly brought lots of style to the registry building that day. The ceremony was short but incredibly sweet and I just about managed to uphold my ‘witness’ duties whilst also photographing their special moment. Beauty, simplicity and style with a hint of goofiness, you can’t beat that when it comes to capturing true love on camera!
The other week I visited Manila to see my close family. It’s rare that we are in one country at the same time as we are spread out between Singapore, France and UK. But a wedding and crossing travel plans meant we would be altogether again in the same city for the first time since my own wedding 2 years ago! It was a short but sweet trip; dancing, celebrating, volcanos, horse riding and pool time (more photos of all that coming soon!) Not one to miss a photo op however, on the day of my cousins wedding our car broke down. While we were waiting to get it fixed I coerced my tita (auntie) and a few of my other cousins into a quick photo session. Some extras of my mum and family thrown in there too. 3 generations of lovliness.
Ahhhhhhhhh! What a cutie! A few of my personal favourites from a sunny Saturday morning shoot. There were a few grumpy moments for little 8 month old Roman, but with a face like that you can’t help but smile! Huge thanks to the wonderful parents who popped some bubbly and treated me to a mimosa too. Can every morning shoot I do include that?! Here’s to more cute faces on your 1st birthday Roman – I’m invited right?
